The activities will take place from 15th October 2015 to May 2016 at the Museum of Rural Culture located in Cipolleto – Gubbio.
Each activity will be preceded by a guided tour of the Museum to enable the pupils to learn about everyday country life in the early 20th century.

Hands-on cookery (bread)
Objective: introducing the pupils to an understanding and experimentation of how typical local food products were handled and prepared on a daily basis.
Contents: visit of the Museum of Rural Culture, transferral (at your expense)to the business premises of Kebio to learn about and see at first hand the natural cycle of wheat: from sowing to harvest and through to its transformation into flour. The pupils will then proceed to the Villa Fassia estate where they will use the product to make a small loaf of bread in the traditional way.

Hands-on cookery (cheese)
Contents: visit of the Museum of Rural Culture, transferral to the Villa Fassia estate where a brief introduction will be given to the production of milk and its benefits. After an explanation of the process of cheese production, each pupil will make their own small soft cheese.

Hands-on cookery (‘crescia’ or flat bread)
Contents: study of the basic ingredients and the method of making ‘crescia’ using video and narration and seeing how it was made in the past. A practical workshop will follow on preparing it under the guidance of someone who really can bear witness to how it used to be done.

Hands-on cookery (handmade egg noodles)
Contents: the visit to the Museum will be followed by a lesson on making pasta like ‘tagliatelle’ and ‘maltagliati’ by hand. At the end, each pupil will take home a small tray of handmade pasta prepared by themselves.

Discovering hemp
Objective: learning about and appreciating hemp as a cultivated crop, trying out the techniques of spinning, weaving and dying.
Contents: visit of the section devoted to female work, study of the traditional practices of cultivating and making things with hemp, demonstration of domestic spinning and weaving. Finally a small piece of cloth will be woven to take home.
