Museum of Rural Culture located in Cipolleto – Gubbio.

Each activity will be preceded by a guided tour of the Museum to enable the pupils to learn about everyday country life in the early 20th century.

Dates and times to be arranged with the Museum staff.

Hands-on cookery (bread)

Target age group: final year of pre-school, primary and secondary school.

Objective: introducing the pupils to an understanding and experimentation of how typical local food products were handled and prepared on a daily basis.

Contents: visit of the Museum of Rural Culture, in-depth study on the natural cycle of wheat: from sowing to harvest and through to its transformation into flour. The pupils will use the product to make a small loaf of bread in the traditional way.

“Let’s saw the’ Vecchia’!”(sweet tart in the shape of a hag)

Contents: oral account of the culinary traditions celebrating the mid-point of Lent and the significance of the custom. Preparation and slicing up the “Vecchia”, with a portion for each participant. To finish up, we’ll all eat it together!!!

Contents: learning about the rites and traditions connected to Easter time and preparation of either a small cake or cheese bread to take home and eat with the family.
