Traces from the past and... the present<\/h2>
Target age group<\/strong>: pre-school classes and primary school (years I and II)<\/p>\n

Objectives<\/strong>:\u00a0understand the importance of fossils for extending our knowledge about the dinosaurs\u00a0and life on Earth in the past. Recognise how marks, signs and traces testify to what\u00a0happened in the past.<\/p>\n

Contents<\/strong>:\u00a0by observing examples on display in the exhibition, pictures and some fossilised\u00a0objects, the concept of fossil and fossilisation will be studied in detail as well as their\u00a0importance to our understanding of the past. Even footsteps fossilise: each participant\u00a0will take away a trace of their visit to the exhibition by making a mould of their\u00a0footprint to take home.<\/p>\n

Objectives<\/strong>:\u00a0development of the ability to listen and observe in order to understand the physical\u00a0characteristics, behaviour and diets of the dinosaurs in the exhibition. Promote\u00a0creativity and manual skills through the use of a variety of materials and techniques.<\/p>\n

Contents<\/strong>:\u00a0Learning about the physical and functional characteristics of the Patagonian giants.\u00a0Producing a big book to explain the evolution and the life of the dinosaurs on Earth\u00a0from their origin to their disappearance.<\/p>\n

Palaeontologist for a day: palaeontological excavation<\/h2>
Target age group<\/strong>: primary school (years III, IV and V) and middle school.<\/p>\n

Objectives:<\/strong>\u00a0learn what palaeontology means and about the work of the palaeontologist and the\u00a0instruments he\/she uses to set up and carry out a palaeontological excavation.<\/p>\n

Contents<\/strong>:\u00a0initial introduction to the role of the palaeontologist, differences and similarities with\u00a0other professionals such as the geologist and archaeologist. Observation and\u00a0explanation of how a palaeontological excavation is carried out using a video and\u00a0subsequent simulation of the normal procedures employed. Reassembling the skeleton of a dinosaur using excavated fossils.<\/p>\n

Objectives<\/strong>:\u00a0understanding the concepts of palaeontology, fossil and fossilisation. Learning why\u00a0making a plaster cast of excavated fossils is important and how to do it.<\/p>\n

Contents<\/strong>:\u00a0after an initial introduction to palaeontology and fossilisation, each participant will\u00a0make a plaster cast of a fossil.<\/p>\n

Objectives<\/strong>:\u00a0learning about the geological composition of our territory, the stratification of the\u00a0rocks and what they contain. Understanding the importance of rocks in tracing the\u00a0evolution of life on our planet.<\/p>\n

Contents<\/strong>:\u00a0introduction to the geologist\u2019s work and the study of rocks. Individual production of\u00a0a stratification of rocks including the insertion of fossils in chronological order.<\/p>\n

\u201cSnakes and Ladders\u201d with fossils<\/h2>
Target age group<\/strong>: primary school (all years)<\/p>\n

Objectives<\/strong>:\u00a0learning about the physical characteristics and behaviour of the dinosaurs in our\u00a0exhibition through a game. Understanding how they became extinct and about the\u00a0process of fossilisation. Becoming aware of the importance of the palaeontologist for\u00a0researching and studying dinosaurs.<\/p>\n

Contents<\/strong>:\u00a0the activity will start with a guided tour of the exhibition illustrating the physical\u00a0characteristics and behaviour of the dinosaurs, the theories regarding their extinction,\u00a0the process of fossilisation and the role of the palaeontologist. This will be followed by the fossil version of Snakes and Ladders in which the participants will answer\u00a0questions about what they have seen in the exhibition. The winner will be the first to\u00a0arrive at the final square.<\/p>\n

Dino treasure hunt<\/h2>
Target age group<\/strong>: primary school (all years)<\/p>\n

Objectives<\/strong>:\u00a0approaching the world of the dinosaurs while stimulating memory, intuition and\u00a0observational and study skills.<\/p>\n

Contents<\/strong>:\u00a0the activity is organised as a treasure hunt through the exhibition after visiting the\u00a0collection and the Quadrisfera installation. Divided into small groups, the pupils will\u00a0find answers to questions related to the themes of the exhibition and by completing\u00a0tasks and solving riddles attain the treasure.<\/p>\n

Herbivores and carnivores: not just a question of teeth...<\/h2>
Target age group<\/strong>: pre-school classes and primary school (years I and II)<\/p>\n

Objectives<\/strong>:\u00a0introduce the participants to the concept of the relationship between form and\u00a0function. Enable them to distinguish whether the dinosaurs were herbivores or\u00a0carnivores according to their peculiar physical characteristics. Promote observational,\u00a0analytical and creative skills.<\/p>\n

Contents<\/strong>:\u00a0during a guided tour of the exhibition, the pupils will be shown the principle physical\u00a0features of the herbivores and carnivores. In the workshop these characteristics will\u00a0be singled out using images of teeth, feet, tails etc. and comparisons will be made\u00a0with contemporary examples of herbivores and carnivores. Subsequently, the\u00a0participants will have to assign them to one of the two major categories studied.\u00a0Finally, a collage will be made using different body parts in order to create a new\u00a0species of dinosaur.<\/p>\n
